The Advanced Programs business unit develops advanced motion control systems that involve electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical technologies. Our systems offer precision control of complex structures in unique material handling environments.
We have developed and produced military standard cargo monorail trains for LHD-1 through LHD-8 class ships. These are used to rapidly transfer palletized loads (up to 3,000 pounds per pallet) from stowage areas onboard the LHD class amphibious assault ships to landing craft air cushions parked in the wet-well of the LHD — all at traversing speeds up to 600 feet per minute.
In addition, we have also developed and produced overhead bridge cranes and dumbwaiters.
LHD Cargo Monorail System
We have developed and produced cargo monorail trains for LHD-1 through LHD-8 class ships. The Cargo Monorail System is a major part of the ship’s assault system.
Our Cargo Monorail System is comprised of 2,700 feet of monorail, complete with 17 manual and/or hydraulic operated switches, a maintenance platform, and nine diesel-hydraulic powered trains. |

The trains each consist of four individual cars, as well as:
-Operator’s control car assembly
-Power car assembly
-Hoist car assembly
-Traverse drive assembly
Each train is capable of handling two, 3,000-pound palletized loads at hoisting speeds of 0 to 180 feet per minute and traversing speeds of 0 to 600 feet per minute. The train is powered by a 60 horsepower diesel engine. Our LHD Cargo Monorail System also meets the vibration requirements of MIL-STD-167-1 and -2 and the high-impact shock requirements of MIL-S-901C (Grade A). |
