In 2008, AAI and Aeronautics Ltd. teamed to market the Orbiter miniature unmanned aircraft. The Orbiter aircraft incorporates lightweight composite construction and a small footprint — approximately three feet in length and less than 15 pounds — making it easy to transport via vehicle or backpack.
It also is easy to set up and launch. In fact, during our first flight demonstration of the Orbiter aircraft, two non-AAI participants were able to set up and launch the aircraft in approximately 10 minutes.
In the air, the Orbiter miniature unmanned aircraft excels in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions because of its quiet, electric operation and robust endurance.
The Orbiter aircraft is being integrated into AAI’s robust One System® Ground Control Station (OSGCS), a platform that is designed to meet NATO standardization agreement requirements for unmanned aircraft interoperability. In fact, all of AAI’s unmanned aircraft are compatible with the company’s OSGCS, One System Portable Ground Control Station, and One System Remote Video Terminal.
